Ships in Product Packaging program
Enjoy shipping discounts and increase brand exposure

Ships in Product Packaging program for Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) sellers
The “Ships in Product Packaging” (SIPP) program, previously known as “Ships in Own Container” (SIOC), gives Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) sellers the opportunity to test and certify products, allowing them to deliver products to buyers in their own custom-branded packaging without using additional Amazon packaging. This allows you to minimize shipping packaging materials, provide a better customer experience, reduce costs associated with delivery, and potentially reduce the carbon footprint of outbound packages. Starting February 5, 2024, we will open registration for this program through Seller Central to all sellers who use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) and sell products on the following marketplaces: the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Step 1: Review and design
To enroll in the program, first review your products, and then evaluate and update your package design to meet the following requirements of the "Ships in Product Packaging" program.
Ships in Product Packaging (SIPP)
Soft SIPP products use soft outer packaging, such as bags, stand-up pouches, padded mailers, and envelopes, with packaging material that is at least 2 mm thick.
Soft packaging requirements
1 Packaging dimensions
Minimum acceptable package size: greater than 6x4x0.375 inches or 152.4x101.6x95 mm;
Maximum acceptable package size: less than 18 x 14 x 6 inches or 457 x 406.4 x 152.4 mm; length + height < 21 inches (53 cm); width + height < 23.6 inches (41 cm).
The size must fit the product inside the package to prevent excessive movement within the package.

5 Labels
Package markings and labels must indicate the contents. Sensitive items such as swimwear, underwear, health and wellness products, medical products, and adult products should be discreetly marked or labeled to avoid a poor customer experience. For normal sorting and distribution, adhesive labels such as shipping labels must be affixed to the outer packaging. The external scannable label must comply with the product labeling guidelines.

Step 2: Group similar ASINs
A test report can certify several similar ASINs, so sellers can group ASINs into categories. Except in special cases, group eligible products based on size, weight, material, packaging, the proportion of the product to the packaging, and package quantity.

Main product
The heaviest and largest product in the ASIN group

Size range
The minimum acceptable size for an ASIN group is 25% smaller than the primary product

Weight range
The minimum acceptable weight for an ASIN group is 25% lighter than the main product

Material composition
The composition of material in the main product and the secondary product must be the same

Package types and specifications
The packaging type, structure, and material of all products in the group must be the same

Product-to-package ratio
The ratio of product volume to packaging volume for primary and secondary products must be similar

Package quantity
The number of units per pack of primary and secondary products must be the same
Step 3: testing and evaluation
To register products and qualify for the SIPP program, all packaging must pass physical performance testing in the form of drop self-testing or International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) 6 laboratory testing. Once the packaging has been updated to meet SIPP requirements, test the largest/heaviest ASIN in this product group. Amazon has partnered with ISTA to develop comprehensive testing methods for products in rigid and flexible packaging that can simulate the journey of packages through Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).
If this is a self-test, follow steps 3a–3d below; if the test is performed by a lab, follow steps 3a–3b.

3a. Determine whether you can test your packaging through self-testing or ISTA 6 laboratory testing
● Self-test: If the product is not fragile, contains no liquids or sharp objects, and is not a granular item less than 1 inch (about 2.5 cm) in diameter, then it is suitable for self-testing.
● Laboratory testing: If your product is fragile, contains sharp objects, or contains liquid, you cannot perform a self-test. You need to submit an ISTA-6 laboratory report issued by an ISTA-6A laboratory in the Amazon APASS network to obtain certification.

3b. Complete the appropriate tests
Self-test instructions
There are two main steps to complete the self-check. (For soft packaging, there is an additional step to ensure the packaging material strength. ) Both rigid packaging and flexible packaging require pre- and post-test photos of the packaging and the product. (Step 3d provides further information about the photo requirements. )

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a difference between “Ships in Product Packaging” (SIPP) and “Ships in Own Container” (SIOC)?
There is no difference; SIPP's packaging certification standards are the same as SIOC. We recently rebranded the program as “Ships in Product Packaging” (SIPP) to better reflect the program’s goals to Selling partners and buyers.
Which marketplaces offer the SIPP program?
The SIPP program applies to sellers who use Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) to sell products in the following seven marketplaces: Canada, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
Will buyers be told that their products will be shipped in their own packaging?
Yes, buyers will see a message when purchasing a SIPP certified ASIN and checking out indicating that the ASIN can be shipped in its original packaging. When buyers add SIPP-certified products on Amazon websites to their cart, most products will show a hidden option at checkout that lets buyers add Amazon packaging for free ("Fulfilled in Amazon Packaging"). Whether or not the buyer chooses to add Amazon packaging, registered and SIPP-certified ASINs qualify sellers for rewards. See this page for more information about the SIPP buyer experience.
Which of my ASINs are eligible for SIPP?
ASINs that meet SIPP requirements and are sold on the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and United Kingdom marketplaces are eligible. Once registration is open on Seller Central, you will be able to search for the ASIN you wish to register to determine if it is eligible.
Do ASINs enrolled in the SIPP program always ship without Amazon-added packaging?
If a SIPP-certified ASIN is part of a buyer's order and is shipped with one or more other items, the ASIN may be placed in an Amazon box, bag, or envelope to maintain the buyer experience and reduce the number of individual packages they receive. Sellers will be rewarded for SIPP-certified ASINs whether they are shipped as a single item or with one or more other items.
How do I register an ASIN for the SIPP program?
To register an ASIN in SIPP, follow the steps outlined in the "Get started" section of our website, including 1. review the SIPP guidelines, 2. group similar products, 3. test the product and product packaging, and 4. once registration opens on February 5, 2024, register through Seller Central.
In order to certify all variants of the ASIN being tested, do I need to test them separately?
No, you don't need to test all variants of an ASIN separately. You can evaluate ASINs that are eligible for grouping and can be certified through a single test report. Except for a few exceptions, eligible products should be grouped based on size, weight, material, packaging, product-to-package ratio, and package quantityClick here to learn more about the ASIN grouping guidelines.
What FBA Fulfillment Fee discount rate will I receive?
The discount rate depends on the size and weight of the product used to charge Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) fulfillment fees. You can find the specific discounts here on the United States 2024 Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Weight Handling Fee page or the Europe 2024 Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Weight Handling Fee page.
Why are some of my ASINs no longer shipped in packaging added by Amazon?
To reduce packaging waste, Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) has created a program that uses machine learning to identify, test, and certify ASINs that meet SIPP standards, without requiring any action from sellers. ASINs certified in this way are also eligible for FBA Fulfillment Fee discounts when they are delivered to buyers. For ASINs that have passed SIPP certification, no further action is required for sellers to receive the discount. For ASINs certified by SIPP before 02/05/2024, you will automatically receive FBA Fulfillment Fee discounts starting on 02/05/2024 in the Canada, United States, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and United Kingdom marketplaces.
How do I apply the SIPP discount once I have registered the ASIN?
When you register an ASIN that is not currently SIPP certified, you will be asked to provide the certification date in the Seller Central SIPP portal before Amazon reviews the application. Select the certification date based on the date your SIPP-compliant product was first delivered to an Amazon fulfillment center. Once your registration request is approved, the discount will apply to items received at Amazon fulfillment centers after the ASIN certification date you provided. Items received prior to the certification date are not eligible for any discounts. For ASINs that were SIPP certified before February 5, 2024, you will automatically receive FBA Fulfillment Fee discounts starting February 5, 2024, in the Canada, United States, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and United Kingdom marketplaces.
Are there any changes to the shipping requirements for SIPP ASINs when sending products to Amazon?
No, you will continue to ship SIPP certified ASINs to Amazon fulfillment centers in the same way as before, while ensuring that their packaging meets the standards set out in the SIPP guidelines. According to the labeling guidelines on Seller Central, every SIPP-certified inbound item must have a scannable label on the outside.
Are SIPP ASINs eligible for the Climate Pledge Friendly (CPF) badge?
SIPP is not part of the Climate Pledge Friendly program. To be eligible for the Climate Pledge Friendly badge, your ASIN must have a certification that meets the program requirements. For more information, go to the CPF program certification page.
