What is GTO

“Amazon Global Test Once” (Amazon Global Test Once, hereinafter referred to as GTO) is a product compliance service launched by Amazon for Chinese sellers under the “launch is global” vision to help sellers pass a product inspection and meet the product compliance review requirements of multiple Amazon sites at the same time, so as to more efficiently promote products to the global market.

This service relies on preferential testing from qualified laboratories and cross-site universal testing standards integrated with Amazon to achieve one-time testing and multi-site access.

Through the “Amazon Global Test”, it has not only reduced the cost burden of expanding product compliance in overseas business, but has also become an accelerator to help sellers build core competitiveness — it is not only the cornerstone of product compliance implementing the “launch is global” vision, but also a key step for Chinese sellers to start global business.

GTO's product testing is performed by a third-party testing, inspection, and certification service provider (hereinafter referred to as TIC) within the Amazon Service Provider Network (SPN).

Applicable categories: The first issue will open the toy category; it will be extended to electronic appliances and baby products in the future. For specific opening hours, please follow the notice update on the official Amazon Global Store website.

Uniform pricing

Each TIC implements standardized unit prices for major test items, which are consistent among agencies.

How to calculate the total price

Due to differences in structure, material, color, etc. of different products, the required test points are different, and the final total price depends on the actual number of test points required for the product.

Subject to the official quotation

The final price is subject to the official quotation issued by TIC after receiving the sample for evaluation.

Other situations

If it involves verification of existing reports, expedited testing, etc., the specific cost is subject to the TIC quote.

Since each TIC has a uniform price for the main test items, sellers can choose one of their own.

All of the above are independent third party service providers. Amazon only provides relevant information for your reference and selection, and does not constitute a recommendation or endorsement; the testing service is completed by you directly signing a contract with the selected TIC, and Amazon does not participate in this transaction and is not responsible for it.

Access process

The complete operation process is as follows:

Access the entrance:

Go to SPN-GTO's exclusive page to view cooperative TIC information.

step 2

Select an agency:

Select a TIC partner according to your needs to enter the chat box. Click the “Amazon Global Testing (GTO) Product Compliance Inspection” service card at the bottom right of the chat box and send the service to begin the consultation.

step 3

Submit product information:

Provide product images, material and color information, target site, supplier information and BOM, and request an estimated quotation from TIC.

Step 4

Confirm the estimated price:

After the estimated price is within the acceptable range, send physical samples in accordance with TIC requirements.

Get the final quote:

After receiving the sample, TIC reviews it and issues a final formal offer; the seller confirms and makes payment directly to TIC.

After completing the payment

Depending on whether the target site has entered “Direct Product Verification (DPV)”, the subsequent process is divided into two paths:

Generate Test Request Form (TRF)

Create a TRF for the target ASIN in the Seller Central dashboard and provide the TRF number to TIC.

Complete the test

Once TIC has completed testing, it directly uploads the report to the Amazon system and updates the corresponding ASIN's

Frequently asked questions

1: What is the difference between GTO and testing directly commissioned by myself?

GTO uses a common testing scheme across sites. One test can cover multiple sites, and there is no need to repeatedly send samples from site to site; you also don't need to research each site's regulatory standards or screen testing institutions with corresponding qualifications on your own.

2: Which categories and sites can use GTO?

The first issue of the toy category was opened, and currently covers 16 sites (see “Covered Sites”); it will be extended to electronic appliances and baby products in the future. For specific opening hours, please follow the notice update on Amazon's official Global Store website.

3: Is the price of each TIC the same?

Each TIC has a uniform price for the main test items, which is consistent among agencies; the final total price depends on the actual test site required for the product, and is subject to the official TIC quotation.

4: How long will it take to issue a report?

An ordinary toy takes about 7 working days; complex products such as charging, riding, and containing liquid have a long cycle, and are actually confirmed by the TIC assessment.

5: I already have other test reports, do I need to retest?

If you already have valid reports that meet the target site's standards and have testing requirements for additional sites, GTO supports TIC to evaluate and fill in the gaps on the basis of verifying the existing reports, without re-testing the covered sites. GTO does not support the “only verification of the upload, no additional testing required” situation. Please let us know the details in advance when contacting TIC, and the agency will evaluate and confirm it.

6: I only need a single site for testing, is GTO suitable?

GTO targets product compliance scenarios where “two or more sites are required at the same time”. If you only need a single site for testing, it is recommended that you directly entrust TIC to conduct routine tests to obtain a more matched service plan.

7: Can the report be used for customs clearance or local supervision?

GTO compliance covers product compliance review requirements related to listing products on the Amazon Marketplace. For scenarios such as customs clearance, retail import declarations, or third-party channel sales, please verify whether the report has been approved by local regulators and consult a professional customs clearance agent or local compliance advisor, subject to local laws and regulations.
