Amazon announced that starting today, the Dutch site Amazon.nl will expand to more than 30 categories to provide local consumers with more than 100 million products at preferential prices and fast and convenient delivery services, opening up a new shopping experience. The categories covered by Amazon's Dutch site include digital electronics, computers, sports and outdoor, tools, toys, kitchenware, home, beauty, personal care, clothing, footwear, etc. The expansion of Amazon's Dutch site will bring new opportunities for sellers to directly reach European consumers, help them expand the European market, and accelerate their global business layout.
Alex Ootes, Amazon's vice president of EU development, said: “With this launch, we hope Amazon.nl can meet the long-standing demand of Dutch consumers — getting more local and international selection options from Amazon and trusted sellers through an independent Dutch site, while enjoying reliable and fast delivery services. In the next step, we will continue to strive to provide Dutch consumers with a richer selection of products, better prices and a more convenient shopping experience to meet the higher expectations of consumers. 01 Help sellers open up new channels for business growth and reach more consumers
Amazon helps sellers reach more than 300 million consumers around the world. On January 15, 2020, Amazon announced that the Dutch site is officially open for global sellers. Sellers can register and open the Dutch site through https://services.amazon.nl. To help sellers expand their global business, Amazon provides convenient product upload tools, payment processing procedures, credit card fraud protection, and promotional services to help sellers more effectively present products to consumers. Additionally, sellers can use Amazon's data and analytics to improve sales and optimize operations.
02 Provide consumers with more ways to shop and buy over 100 million products
Consumers can purchase products from the Dutch site anytime, anywhere through various methods such as desktop, mobile browsers, and the Amazon App. For customers on Amazon's Dutch site, orders over €20 can enjoy free next-day delivery of FBA products;
For Dutch Prime members, there is no minimum spend to enjoy next-day delivery on millions of products. In 2017, Amazon launched the Prime membership program in the Netherlands and provided Prime members with fast and free delivery services for millions of products. Globally, Amazon has over 150 million Prime members.
What are the specific advantages of Amazon's Dutch site?
● The Dutch site has considerable potential
The Dutch are one of the most “digital” people in the EU. The number of Dutch residents in 2018 was 17 million, and online sales reached 23.7 billion euros. The Netherlands spends 1,400 euros online per person, which is 273% higher than Italy and 138% higher than Spain. Furthermore, Dutch consumers love products with free shipping. Most online stores in the Netherlands offer free shipping for Dutch buyers. Sellers may consider offering free shipping to Dutch customers to enhance the appeal of the product.
● Launch easy and professional FBA to protect sellers
If the seller already has an Amazon Europe Unified Account, there is no need to create a separate seller account for Amazon.nl. Amazon.nl (the sixth option in the drop-down menu) will automatically appear in your seller account. Registered Professional sellers can sell on Amazon.nl without additional monthly service fees.
Amazon provides services to Dutch sites through a network of fulfillment centers throughout the European Union to help sellers deliver inventory from other countries and regions of the European Union to orders placed on Amazon.nl, and regard the German distribution center as a local fulfillment center in the Netherlands. Before August 31, 2020, Amazon will provide Amazon Logistics Europe Integrated Service (PanEU) delivery fee discounts for orders delivered to the Netherlands.
● How can sellers who have already entered the European site synchronize sales on the Dutch site with one click?
Sellers can use Seller Central's “Build International Product Information (BIL)” tool to list appropriate products on Amazon.nl. Using BIL, sellers can easily sync existing selections and prices from the source marketplace to Amazon.nl.
