We have some good news!
New Amazon Points Program Offer!
Starting November 1, 2021, Amazon Japan will also offer a 9% discount on point costs for a period of one year. Currently, the cost of 1 point is 1 yen. After applying this discount, the cost for 1 credit is 0.91 yen. This discount will be applied to the portion of the credit issued that does not exceed 1% of the item price. Amazon will charge the standard rate of “1 point = 1 yen” for points issued that are greater than 1% of the product price. No registration is required and discount will be automatically applied to all your offers with points.
Japan points cultural knowledge points
The point culture is popular in Japan and has penetrated various industries. Banks, shopping malls, airlines, convenience stores, etc. all have corresponding and even interoperable point systems.
• 76.4% of Japanese consumers use points to buy products or exchange them for electronic money [1]
• The transaction rate of Amazon sellers increased by about 1.1 times after providing bonus points for products [2]
How do I receive the Point Cost discount?
If the product is a product with points sold by a professional seller and the product is delivered between November 1, 2021 and October 31, 2022, then this item will automatically receive this discount. The system automatically applies that discount every time you close a sale. No additional enrollment is necessary.
How has the cost of points changed since November 1, 2021, when Amazon is offering a discount on the cost of points?
From November 1, 2021 to October 31, 2022, the cost of points will be reduced by 9% to 0.91 yen per point. This discount will be applied to the portion of the credit issued that does not exceed 1% of the item price. Amazon will charge the standard rate of 1 yen per point for issuing points greater than 1% of the product price. The discount amount is calculated on the cost of points using the rounding method.
For example, for a product with a standard price of 1,000 yen and a points percentage of 2%, the original credit cost before the discount was 20 yen. After applying the discount, the point cost is 19 yen (the discount amount is calculated as 1,000 yen x 1% x 9%, and 1 yen after rounding).
Will the discount in cost of points impact referral fees?
No, they don't. Amazon will calculate the referral fee based on the nominal value after the credit is issued (before the point cost discount).
For example, if an order amount is 10,000 yen, the point percentage is 2% (or 200 points), and the referral fee rate is 15%, the referral fee will still be (10,000 - 200) x 15% = 1,470 yen. However, your earnings will include an additional 9 yen from the credit cost discount promotion.

Amazon Points Center FAQ
❓ Q1: What types of sellers can use the Amazon Points Center?
The Amazon Points Center is open to all professional sellers on the Amazon Japan site who are authorized to use Seller Central.
❓ Q2: What actions can I do in the Amazon Points Center?
You can set a uniform point percentage for all products (account level credit percentage) or set up different points percentages for individual products (item-level credit percentage list). You can also update the points percentage for all your offers based on these settings with a single click.
❓ Q3: Is there a limit on how many times I can change settings in the Amazon Points Center?
You can change the settings as many times as you require.
❓ Q4: What values can I set for my account-level credit percentage in the Amazon Points Center?
Until November 1, 2021, you can choose any value between 1% and 50% (decimals are not supported). This value is set to 1% by default.
After November 1, 2021, you can choose any value between 0% and 50% (decimals are not supported).
❓ Q5: How do I set different points percentages for certain products?
Starting August 30, 2021, if you want to set a new point percentage for some products that is different from the account-level point percentage, you will need to indicate the corresponding SKU and the point percentage you want to set for it in the item-level credit percentage list.
You can then upload the Offer-Level Points Percent List to Amazon Points Central. It is important to note that:
1. Your last upload will cover all previous settings and updates. When uploading, make sure that the credit information for all products in the table is what you want to set
2. If you no longer want to set separate points for an item and instead apply an account-level credit ratio, you can remove that product's information from the most recent upload list. For details, please refer to the example below.
Example: Andy has 100 SKUs in his store. He has set 1% points for the account level, and 5 SKUs (ABCDE) set 2% points using the “Product Level Point Percentage List”. One day, Andy wants to change the points for 3 SKU (ABC) to 3%, SKU D to keep 2% points unchanged, and SKU E to the account's point ratio (1%). The template Andy needs to upload is as follows:
Note: The E that is removed from the form will automatically use account-level points by default, that is, 1%
❓Q6: Is the automatic update of the account level point percentage as of November 1, 2021 a one-time update?
The current plan is for a one-time update on November 1, 2021. If there are other renewal plans in the future, we will notify you separately.
❓ Q7: What should I do if I don't want my account level points percentage to be automatically updated on November 1, 2021?
You can visit the Amazon Points Center anytime from August 30, 2021 to October 31, 2021. Click “Cancel this Program Update” in the blue message box on the Credit Center homepage, and your existing points settings will be retained.
You can also change your points settings at any time after the automatic update on November 1, 2021.
❓ Q8: Can I update my account level credit percentage before November 1, 2021?
Yes. Starting September 30, 2021, you can use the “Apply Now” feature to update your point percentage in advance. Since customers prefer products that offer points, Amazon recommends that you act now to easily update your product credit settings using the Account-Level Credit Percentages and Product-Level Credit Percentages lists.
❓ Q9: After the Point Center goes live (August 30, 2021), can I still use the original method to set and edit points?
Yes. However, starting November 1, 2021, you will only be able to use the new inventory file template to update product information, and Amazon recommends that you start adapting to this new template as soon as possible. The new template can be used starting September 30, 2021.
Compared to the original template, the following two fields of the new template will change, and they will all become mandatory fields starting November 1. With the new template, you can use percentages to set your points. The original template will be usable until October 31, 2021.
1. Field “standard_price_points” becomes “standard_price_points_percent”
2. Field “sale_price_points” becomes “sale_price_points_percent”
❓ Q10: Where can I check the current points report for my products?
You can still download inventory reports from the Inventory tab.
❓ Q11: What if I don't want to add points to some or all of my products after November 1, 2021?
You can do either of the following:
• Set your account level credit percentage to 0% to exclude all of your products
• Set 0% in the item-level credit percentage list to exclude specific products
❓ Q12: What percentage of points will the system automatically set for new products after November 1, 2021?
Starting November 1, 2021, when you create a new product in Seller Central, you'll see a default credit percentage of 1%. You can change the points percentage any time and you require.
❓ Q13: What is the seller's current credit cost?
You are only charged for the cost of points you provide to customers (currently 1JPY per point). No other fees are charged.
❓ Q14: How is the cost of points currently calculated?
The cost of points is calculated as product price (excluding shipping and gift wrapping fee) multiplied by the points percentage.
For example, if the product price is 1,000 yen and the point percentage is 2%, the point cost amount is 20 yen.
❓ Q15: Where can I find more information on how to use the Amazon Points Center?
