How is the “available for purchase” date defined?For example, although Seller A listed their first FBA ASIN in 2021, the product was not received into inventory and made available for sale until February 1, 2022, so February 1, 2022 is the date the first ASIN available for purchase was listed, which also meets the definition of a new seller.

Since New Seller Starter Pack launched, it has received a lot of attention from sellers. Through channels such as the WeChat back office, live streaming platforms, seller surveys, and others, we received many questions that sellers care deeply about.
Today, we’ve compiled some frequently asked questions from sellers and are providing authoritative answers all at once!

❓ Q1: I listed an ASIN on the US Marketplace in 2021, but it didn’t arrive and start selling until 2022. Am I considered a new seller?
First you need to be a professional seller!
The key to identifying new sellers: if your first purchasable ASIN was listed on or after January 1, 2022, how is the date it became “available for purchase” determined?For example, although a seller listed their first FBA ASIN in 2021, the product was not received into inventory and made available for sale until February 1, 2022, so February 1, 2022, is the date when the first ASIN available for purchase was listed, which also meets the definition of a new seller.

❓ Q2: If I open the US, Japan, and Europe Marketplaces now, how many times can I receive the benefits?
The marketplaces where you can publish new ASINs are limited to these: US, Japan, UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.
Attention!The US Marketplace, Japan Marketplace, and the five European Marketplaces are independent of one another. As long as you have not sold ASINs in any of the US, JP, or EU regions, you can be considered a new seller in that region and enjoy the benefits of one Starter Pack for new sellers. A new seller can receive the full Starter Pack for new sellers up to 3 times, and eligible brand owners can get up to $150,000 in rebates!

❓ Q3: Can only brand owners/FBA sellers get benefits in the Starter Pack?
The 3 tracks in the New Seller Starter Pack are independent of each other. If you meet the requirements for all 3 tracks, you can get triple benefits:
▲Eligible brand owners can receive a rebate of 5% of brand sales (up to $50,000), as well as discounts on the Vine and Transparency programs;
▲Sellers who join FBA can receive up to $200 in Fulfillment by Amazon inbound cost discounts, and they may also qualify for a $200 Sponsored Products advertising voucher by creating an ad campaign;
▲Sellers who meet the conditions and use coupons can enjoy a $50 discount on the coupon fee.
But!Only kids make choices—adults, of course, want it all!Sellers can qualify to claim the benefits by completing all three tasks at the same time: enrolling in Brand Registry, joining FBA, and using coupons.

❓ Q4: I completed Brand Registry in 2021, but I didn’t launch my first ASIN until 2022. Am I eligible?
The completion date for Amazon Brand Registry can be earlier than the date when the store lists its first ASIN available for purchase, but it must be no later than 6 months after the first ASIN available for purchase goes live.
❓ Q5: Does my brand need to be brand new?If the Brand Registry was completed in 2021 and authorized to other Marketplaces in 2022, is that okay?
Requirements for newness of the brand: your brand must not have sold products on Amazon in the specific region (US Marketplace/top 5 European Marketplaces/Japan Marketplace) before January 1, 2022 to qualify for rewards in the corresponding region.
▲For example
Q: I completed Brand Registry on Amazon US in 2021, and then completed Brand Registry on Amazon Japan through brand authorization in 2022. Can I receive Brand Registry benefits on Amazon Japan?
A: If the brand had not sold on Amazon Japan before January 1, 2022, and the applicant is the brand owner or their internal staff member, and completed brand registration in Japan through brand authorization, they are also eligible.

❓ Q6: One brand sold through multiple accounts: I have multiple accounts that started selling products of the same brand this year. Can each account get the discount?
A brand can use the offer only once in one selling account in one region (US Marketplace/top 5 European Marketplaces/Japan Marketplace), based on the first selling account that qualifies.
For example, if seller A first met the promotion eligibility requirements on the Amazon US Marketplace and then authorized the brand to sellers B and C, sellers B and C’s seller accounts can no longer receive the promotion.

❓ Q7: Selling multiple brands from one account: If I sell multiple brands through my seller account, can I get multiple 5% rewards for multiple brands?
Yes, as long as the seller is confirmed as the brand owner of these brands and sells products from these brands through their seller account, the seller can earn a 5% bonus for these brands.
After eligibility is confirmed, brand sales can receive this rebate for 1 year. If, during that year, the total eligible brand sales across multiple brands reaches $1 million, the rebate will end, which means you can receive up to $50,000 in rebates.

❓ Q8: For brand owners, which sales are eligible for the 5% rebate?How is the start of the 1-year eligibility period defined?
▲First, your seller account must be confirmed by Amazon as the brand owner of the products sold. Once eligibility has been determined, sales generated by this brand in your seller account are eligible for this reward for 12 months;
▲If the eligible brand sales reach a cumulative total of $1 million within these 12 months, the incentive will end, which means you can receive up to $50,000 in incentives.
▲This 12-month eligibility period begins when you list your first purchasable ASIN, or when you enroll in the “Amazon Brand Registry” program and are recognized by Amazon US as the brand owner, whichever is later.
▲Although this benefit cannot be combined with other benefits offered by Amazon (including 5% of brand sales from the FBA New Selection program), we will always provide you with the benefit that is more favorable to you.

*Note: Brand sales start accruing no earlier than March 1, 2022.
❓ Q9: I completed Amazon Brand Registry with a TM mark (Pending Trademark). Can I enjoy this benefit?
Yes
▲What we consistently emphasize for benefit eligibility is “completing Amazon Brand Registry”. Both TM and R trademarks can be used to complete Amazon Brand Registry, regardless of trademark status. Therefore, if you do not yet have a trademark, we recommend that you apply for one as soon as possible!After you receive the trademark application receipt (that is, the TM mark), you can complete Amazon Brand Registry .
▲After the brand owner completes Amazon Brand Registry with a TM trademark, they will be granted access to use the Amazon Vine program;
▲After the TM mark becomes an R mark (the brand does not need to register for Brand Registry again), you can get permission to use the Transparency program. The $100 Transparency program discount included in the benefit is not valid starting from when Brand Registry is completed. It is valid for 1 year starting after joining the Transparency program.
▲Only brand owners who have completed Amazon Brand Registry or their internal personnel are eligible for benefits. For an explanation of “brand owner or their internal staff,” please see the next question!

❓ Q10: What does “brand owner or their internal personnel” mean?Where can I check whether I qualify?Can I apply?
Brand owners or their insiders: Brand owners better understand, that is, the owner of this brand/trademark. Internal personnel generally refers to employees of the company that owns the brand.
▲For example
If you are an employee of Company A and are responsible for operating Company A’s Amazon US Marketplace store, and your boss asks you to use the company’s brand to complete Amazon Brand Registry, and the materials you submit during the Brand Registry process can indeed prove that there is an internal relationship between the brand and the company whose store you operate, then your store may meet this requirement.

Recently, we’ve also received many messages from new sellers, and even from people who haven’t opened a store. There’s still some confusion about when to open a store, apply for a trademark, and enroll in Brand Registry.
❓ Q1: We’re just getting started selling on Amazon. Can we register our store first and then apply for a trademark?
Yes, but if you want to start enjoying the benefits in the Starter Pack for beginner sellers and start using brand-owner-exclusive tools earlier, we recommend that you apply for a trademark even before you start registering your store.
About 1 month after you submit the trademark application (timing varies slightly by the trademark office in each country/region), you can receive the trademark filing receipt (that is, the TM mark). Then, once your store is registered, you can immediately start Amazon Brand Registry with the TM mark. Register your trademark early, get the benefits early!

❓ Q2: I don’t have a brand yet. Can I list products first and then complete Brand Registry after my brand is approved?
That works too!However, when sellers add products and create Listing, they’ll find they need to enter the brand name. If the product truly has no brand name, you can directly select “This product has no brand name”;
If you have a brand name but haven’t applied for a trademark or enrolled in Amazon Brand Registry yet, you can still submit a selling application for the brand name. However, we still recommend that sellers apply for trademarks and complete Brand Registry as soon as possible. Remember: you need to complete Brand Registry within 6 months of listing your first sellable product to be eligible for the benefits in the Starter Pack.

❓ Q3: I have a trademark registered in China. Can I directly enroll in Amazon Brand Registry?
No, my friend.
Amazon Brand Registry only accepts trademarks issued by government trademark offices in the following countries/regions: the United States, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Australia, India, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Singapore, Spain, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Sweden, Poland, the European Union, and the United Arab Emirates.
A trademark you register in China is protected by China’s trademark law, but not by trademark laws overseas. Doesn’t that make sense? We recommend that sellers apply for overseas trademarks as soon as possible!
