Careful family members may have seen on Seller Central that Amazon's official product selection tools “Add New Product” and “Global Product Demand” have uniform names and product selection compass. The most obvious change is that sellers will be able to find a tool entry in the “Grow” drop-down menu in Seller Central:
At the same time, sellers can also find tools in these 2 ways:
① Seller Central Homepage Card
Sellers who have received recommendations log in to the Seller Central homepage with their main account. US sellers can see tabs called “Global Product Requirements” and “Add New Products”; sellers in the UK, Germany, and Japan can see tabs called “Add New Products”. The “Global Product Demand” tab lists the number of cross-site high-demand products recommended for sellers; the “Add New Products” tab shows the number of high-demand product recommendations and category information that the site has identified for sellers. Sellers can click on the tab to access product recommendation details.
② Direct link
Recently, many sellers have also given feedback.
This tool is surprisingly easy to use:
The “return rate” and “favorite features” are amazing!
——European, American and Japanese bakery category sellers
I really like the “return rate” and “favorite features” in the “Add a Product” category analysis. In particular, the “return rate”. This data can only be seen on Amazon. It helped me a lot and decided whether to launch a new product: I wanted to make a baby carrier product at the time. I found in this data that the return rate for related products reached 15%, which is very risky, and high returns would cause serious losses, so I didn't enter this market.
“Favorite features” are also very valuable to me. They include product features that buyers like, which are very helpful for us to characterize our products.
I will also use “Global Product Demand” to guide new product launches across sites. This has some reference significance. If the chance score is high, we will conduct product selection research on this ASIN.
Detailed Amazon data helps us make decisions!
——European, American and Japanese beauty tool category sellers
We use [Add New Product] in combination with [Global Product Demand]. In [Add New Product], we will make more use of the category analysis function, which covers more node conditions, market capacity, market performance, and overall returns. It is convenient for me to determine the various indicators that need to be considered when a new product is on the market. This function is more data and specific, and allows me to quickly understand the market.
[Global Product Demand] On this side, we will first focus on ASINs marked as high demand and high opportunity scores in the tool. Then we go to the target market to do research on the categories this type of product belongs to, such as who are the competitors in this category, what is the price tag, and the degree of monopoly. We used that data when we launched a beauty product in Japan. The sales volume fully met our expectations after launch!
Note: The above content is the opinion of a third party seller, for reference only, and does not represent Amazon's opinion or suggestion.
Each new product takes about 2-6 months to complete research, design, procurement/manufacture, transportation, and launch. For brand owners who design, develop, and manufacture their own products, this R&D cycle can be as long as 12 months. Therefore, choosing the right products is particularly critical, and using the right tools is very important.
Unofficial tools we don't really trust. I believe the data from Amazon is accurate.
Thanks for the approval!Dear sellers, please log in to the seller platform and see if there are any clues about explosions in the product selection compass!
How is the selection compass different?
What is the selection compass?
The Product Selection Compass Tool is Amazon's official customized solution for sellers to help sellers explore, evaluate, and seize the most favorable opportunities for global expansion. Based on the product categories the seller already has on the main site, this solution calculates the “opportunity score” to recommend sites and countries suitable for expansion to the seller in a targeted manner, and analyzes high-demand products on this site and other international sites, customer preferences, and comparisons of products selected in different categories for the seller.
Solution Highlights
01 Global product demand
Open to sellers in the US, this tool selects and recommends products that are in high demand in the UK, Germany, and Japan from ASINs already listed by sellers in the US. In order to determine recommended ASINs, Amazon determines a list of high-potential products (your past sales performance) based on the seller's US product catalog, and then evaluates 150 attributes (such as pageviews and search trends) based on the destination country's demand signals to provide the seller with tailored recommendations to truly achieve the global listing of good products.
02 Add new products
Currently available in the US, UK, Germany, and Japan, it recommends sellers with high-demand ASINs and product features most preferred by buyers. Among them, the two most popular features among sellers are “return rate” and “favorite features.”
The “return rate” helps sellers assess market entry risk. However, in the “Favorite Features”, sellers can specifically understand the three major product characteristics that consumers like most about a selected product, making it easy for sellers to grasp consumers' concerns and guide product development.
03 Optional compass combo punch
In addition, there is also feedback from sellers. Select the compass combination boxing method:
Sellers can first use “Global Product Demand” to see if there is demand on other sites. If there is a corresponding product, then use the “Add New Product” category analysis to check the various indicators of this product, analyze whether it is online, or if a new ASIN needs to be developed in the same category.
