Seller FAQ: What if the Amazon Prime Day sprint countdown is up, but the deal isn't scheduled for a regular date?!
June 14, 2022
Test one test
If you run into these situations...
A. Check the promotion schedule for all products in the store before deciding
B. Keep this deal and increase the Prime Coupon/Prime Exclusive Discount on the day you claim your Prime membership
C. Cancel this deal immediately
Answer: A, B
Account Manager Comment: The Prime membership daily discount schedule is scheduled by the Amazon system and cannot be changed after the subscription is set. If the seller feels that their dates aren't in line with their schedule, they can cancel. However, sellers are advised to thoroughly consider all product schedules and Prime membership day goals in their stores, and not easily cancel the deal. For individual products that are not listed as Prime Day Deals, it is recommended to arrange additional Prime targeted coupons, Prime member-only discounts, etc. on Prime Day to capture daily membership traffic. According to recent Amazon and Kantar research [i], 75% of shoppers are likely to buy a product they saw during the Prime Day warm-up event on Prime Day, so the potential for Prime members' recent traffic exposure cannot be ignored.
Kevin's main hit item on Prime Day this year is a high-end umbrella. The product comes in three colors: black, dark blue, and dark green, and has already reported a Prime membership daily flash sale. After the Lightning Deal was successfully reported, Kevin discovered that the red model, the other color of this model, had entered the warehouse early, but at the same time, the black model was tight due to good sales. As a result, Kevin wanted to add the red umbrella as a sub-ASIN to this umbrella SKU that had already reported a flash sale. Excuse me, is Kevin doing this right?
A. Yes, it can guarantee continuous inventory and help new color models quickly increase sales
B. Wrong, it will cause the Lightning Deal that has already been reported to be cancelled
Answer: B
Account Manager Comment: This is a common trade taboo for Prime members today. Pay particular attention to products that have parent-child ASIN variations. Please avoid creating or assigning new child ASINs or changing parent ASINs in parent SKUs to products for which promotions have already been created. Doing so would cause existing promotions to be re-reviewed for new sub-ASINs, causing the promotion to be cancelled by Amazon in non-compliance.
While managing the promotions page, Frank found that the Prime membership daily deals he reported showed “need to be aware”. What should he do at this point?
A. No action
B. Click Details to find the cause of the error and correct it as soon as possible
Answer: B. The reason should be found and corrected as soon as possible according to the indicated Deal Error Type to avoid affecting the deal launch.
Account Manager Comment: Sellers are advised to actively monitor upcoming promotions on the promotion management page before the deal is about to launch. If you see any reminders, please correct the information as soon as possible to ensure that they always meet the eligibility requirements. Generally speaking, the deal does not meet the requirements and requires the seller to take action to resolve the problem. Common reasons may be: 1) the product is missing the reference price; 2) the deal price does not meet the requirements; 3) the product inventory level does not meet or falls below the seller's set quantity, etc.
We found a recent upward trend in cases where deal reminders were received due to a lack of a valid product reference price. All sellers are reminded to check whether they have filled in a valid reference price for their Prime Membership Daily Deals as soon as possible. For details, please refer to the article: How did the marked prices that make Amazon overseas customers happy come about?
Add the reference price path as follows
● In Seller Central, select “Inventory” and then click “Manage Inventory”
● Click Edit next to the relevant SKU/ASIN
● In the “Offer” tab, be sure to enable “More Properties”
● Fill in the “Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price” or “Market Price” fields (names and order vary by site and category)
● Click “Save and finish”

When checking this year's Prime Membership Day promotion plan, Lily, found that the same product A was separately reported by different operators for the Prime membership daily flash sale and a coupon covering Prime membership day. After the discount was combined, it was equivalent to 45% off sales, which affected the profit of the product. What should she do?
A. Criticizing the two operators
B. Immediate cancellation
C. None of the above is completely true
Answer: C
Account manager's comment: Let's just look at product A first. Obviously, after the flash sale and coupon were combined, the product was already sold at a loss. What actions are being taken at this time, depending on the role of this product in the store's Prime Membership Day campaign this year. Is the low price driving the brand store?Or are you responsible for sales and profit goals?Only when the goal is clear can appropriate action be taken.
However, this case revealed an even bigger problem, that is, Lily's operations team lacked overall scheduling of the Prime Day promotion plan. It is recommended that Lily organize the operation team to conduct prior training and task arrangements as soon as possible, and establish an internal process mechanism to ensure transparent sharing of promotional information to avoid repeated discounts. There is also a preview before the big promotion to divide the rights and responsibilities of each member of the team to avoid chaos and unnecessary financial losses due to the big promotion.
Expansion issues
❓ Can the same ASIN launch promotions in the same time period? What are the rules for calculating discounts after stacking?
If your product is very profitable and you want to participate in multiple promotions for the same product at the same time, you can refer to the following image to understand the different types of promotion superposition rules.
Please note: Since the actual situation of each product is different, please refer to the actual resulting price after reporting on each site for the actual price results after the actual superposition.
Lightning Deals, Coupons, and Prime Exclusive Discounts at the same time
Overlay rules that act on the same product
Examples:
Some sellers consider applying for multiple simultaneous promotions for the same product. Assuming that product A usually sells for 100 US dollars and the lowest price this year is 100 US dollars, according to the promotion reporting rules for this year's Prime Membership Day, the seller will set the following conditions:
A. Prime membership daily flash sale setup 20% off
B. Prime Day Coupon Setup 25% off
C. 30% off Prime exclusive discount settings during Prime membership days
Tip: The combination of Lightning Deals and Prime Exclusive Discounts will trigger a ban on the display.
Then, according to the above conditions, the sales price obtained after adding up the promotion should be:
Lightning sale (20% off) and coupon (25% off) combined → total 45% off → final sale price 55 USD
Coupon (25% off) and Prime Exclusive Discount (30% off) combined → Total 47.5% off → Final Sale Price $52.5
Deal issues are detailed and complex, and require careful study and careful inspection by all sellers. Apart from the above common and error-prone deal issues, there are also many issues that cannot be ignored!

Whether the promotion was successfully reported or related to the cancellation of the promotion
❓ 01. How do I know if I have successfully applied for DOTD (Treasure of the Town Store) and Lightning Deal (Lightning Deal)?
A: The results of the DOTD report will be notified to the relevant seller through the account manager or email. Sellers who have submitted a Lightning Deal application can check the specific schedule through the Lightning Deal interface in Seller Central.
❓ 02. There is a promotion recommendation in Seller Central and it shows that it was successfully created. But when I click in it, it shows an error why?
A: There may be many reasons; please check Seller Central to see what the promotion status means and what actions are needed. Follow this link to see common errors and how to troubleshoot them.
❓ 03. Can I cancel the Daily Lightning Deal for Prime members? Will it cause it to not be recommended in the future? Will cancelling before the start of the race affect my account?
A: In the Amazon Prime Membership Day Promotion Open Report phase, sellers can apply for multiple promotions, but after the campaign application results and schedule are determined, sellers are advised to carefully review the schedule and make some selections by considering various factors such as product profit. If the Lightning Deal is scheduled by the system for a time that does not meet your business requirements, be sure to cancel the Lightning Deal 25 hours before the Lightning Deal starts (the sooner the better). You can also claim coupons and Prime exclusive discounts for products that have been canceled to increase traffic and sales during the promotion period.
❓ 04. What exactly are the circumstances that will cause promotions such as deals to be cancelled?
A: Deals, Prime targeted coupons, and exclusive discounts reported by sellers may be cancelled if the following circumstances occur:
1. The promotional price does not meet Amazon's recommended maximum promotional price requirements;
2. Any images (including text) of the promotion do not follow the style guide requirements, and in order to provide the best customer experience, the product may be required to display a reference price in order to participate in the promotion;
3. The product quantity level does not match or falls below the seller-set quantity:
a. The usable inventory is lower than the inventory promised by the promotion;
b. The sub-ASINs included in the Lightning Deal promotion cannot meet the minimum sub-ASIN coverage required by Amazon;
4. Since a sub-ASIN is not compliant, the entire promotion will be non-compliant unless that child ASIN is removed from the promotion (if the ASIN is gray, it is not eligible for the promotion. If your ASIN is seller-shipped, you'll need to ship it by Amazon instead. (If your ASIN is already set to be fulfilled by Amazon, the product does not meet the promotion requirements).
Note:
Any violation of Amazon policies may result in improper participation in Prime Day promotions. Sellers are advised to actively monitor upcoming promotions on the Seller Central Promotion Management page as the Prime membership day approaches to ensure that they always meet the eligibility requirements, and also pay attention to email reminders. Price related
❓ 05. Before the promotion, the system showed an error in the price. What should I do?
A: First, please check that any change in the price of an ASIN participating in the promotion after you submit a Deal or Prime Exclusive Discount may affect its maximum promotional pricing requirement. If verified, please lower the promotional price so that it is equal to or lower than the maximum promotional price. You must resolve these errors 25 hours before the promotion plan starts to prevent the promotion from being blocked from showing.
❓ 06. Will the current weekday flash sale affect the Prime Day event price?
A: There may be an impact. The flash sale price requirement for membership day is the lowest price this year (including the usual flash sale price), so it cannot be higher than the usual flash sale price. The membership day flash sale price does not need to be discounted on top of the usual flash sale event price.
Prime targeted coupons are related to Prime exclusive discounts
❓ 07. When is the deadline for claiming Prime Targeted Coupons?
A: Currently, Amazon has not announced the date of Amazon Prime Day in 2022. Amazon advises sellers to claim Prime targeted coupons for your products as soon as they wait for this date to be announced. Coupons can be applied as soon as 6 hours after submission.
❓ 08. Do Prime Targeted Coupons/Prime Exclusive Discounts have special traffic exposure during Prime membership days?
A: During the Member Day event, Prime targeted coupons and Prime exclusive discounts will have an event logo. When consumers search for a product, they can clearly see that the product is being promoted on the search results page, thereby increasing consumers' desire to buy (please note that the event logo and display will vary from site to site).
Related to other promotions
❓ 09. Prime Day is starting soon, but I don't have any deal recommendations this year. Is there any way to participate in Prime Day?Where can I check the specific reporting standards?
A: Currently, it is recommended that you go to Seller Central to claim the Prime Exclusive Discount. After Amazon announces the date of this year's Prime Day, report coupon campaigns covering the Prime Day date as soon as possible. The coupons can take effect up to 6 hours after the coupon settings are completed.
❓ 10. Can I participate in the promotion without a shopping cart? What if I lose my shopping cart before the deal starts?
A: Missing shopping carts will affect the promotion. Sellers are advised to check if the item has a shopping cart button at the end! At the same time, sellers are advised to check the status of promotions early and fix possible risks 24 hours before the promotion starts to ensure that the promotion runs smoothly. If an issue occurs, please contact your account manager or contact Seller Support as soon as possible.

A “shopping cart button” is part of a product detail page where consumers can add items to their shopping cart or choose to buy now. If your product is to be promoted later, you must get a buy button to maximize exposure and sales. You can refer to business reports (Data Reports > Business Reports > “Sales and Visits by ASIN” > “Sales and Visits on Sub-Product Detail Pages”) to understand the probability that your products will get a buy box.
Hurry up and check yourself
Check the status of the promotion in Seller Central!
01 Check if the deal event is at risk of being cancelled
Sellers go to Seller Central > Campaign Management > Filter to find deals that require attention. For every Lightning Deal that says “Needs Attention” in the “Status” column:
1. Click the “View” button
2. Fix promotion price, promotion quantity, or sub-variant coverage (errors will be marked in yellow ⚠️) *
3. Click the “Submit” button
*If your promotion is prohibited and for no apparent reason, click the “Submit” button to reload the refresh promotion.
02 Check if the Prime Exclusive Discount is at risk of being cancelled
Select Prime Exclusive Discounts through the “Ads” section of Seller Central. The dashboard shows all Prime-only discounts that have been set up. Check if the “Status” column shows “Note: Number of SKUs Under Review”, and if so, click “View Details” on the far right.
In the “Status” column, you can find the Prime exclusive discount that was banned and the reason why it was prohibited, and edit the promotion settings according to the reason prompted. Note that it will take 2 hours for your edits to be updated.
I believe all sellers are also preparing for the final sprint. Sellers are requested to investigate each of the issues mentioned above one by one, and do not lose the size due to minor factors. I wish all sellers to ride the waves and achieve great sales results on Prime Day!
