04/Frequently asked questions about the inventory pre-sale feature

I've planned my inventory, but popular products are still occasionally out of stock. As soon as they are out of stock, my product ranking drops, which is very sad!

Before the goods arrive at the Amazon fulfillment center, buyers can't find my products, and there are no traffic or orders. What should I do?
The Amazon inventory pre-sale feature has been completely updated, so solving these problems can be easily solved!

During the delivery of goods to Amazon fulfillment centers, sellers can continue to sell products that are temporarily out of stock through the “Amazon Inventory Pre-Sale” function. Sellers do not need to interrupt sales during this period, and buyers can also search and purchase the product. After the product arrives at the warehouse, it can also be shipped to the buyer as soon as possible, reducing the loss of orders during the delivery period!

The Amazon Inventory Pre-Sale feature is a feature that helps sellers resolve lost orders due to product shortages. With the inventory pre-sale feature, customers can still find and buy products even if the products are temporarily out of stock. Buyers can avoid being unable to buy because they are out of stock, and sellers can get higher or more stable sales.
★ Important tips
The In-Stock Head Start function (In-Stock Head Start) has previously been launched in the US and Japan. Since September, the feature has also been available in the UK , Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, and Sweden are fully online. Sellers on these sites can quickly set them up, which can effectively reduce order loss!

Once the inventory pre-sale feature is enabled, if you create a shipment that is in transit to an FBA warehouse, Amazon will estimate the in-stock date for your product based on this information and provide the buyer with an estimated delivery date. If you haven't created a shipment yet, or if Amazon is unsure of the delivery date of the shipment, the system will display a “temporarily out of stock” message. These products will not display an estimated delivery date to customers.

★ Please note
Amazon may take up to 48 hours to provide your products to customers through the Amazon Partnered Carrier Program, Amazon's cross-border logistics service, or the tracking number you provide.

Step 1
Step 2
If you want to enable the inventory pre-sale function, you can click the “Activate” button as shown in the image, or you can pause the function at any time.

Step 3
Using a trackable logistics service, the system automatically operates and estimates delivery times.
Once the inventory pre-sale feature is enabled, Amazon will determine the estimated delivery and arrival times based on the tracking number provided by you or your logistics carrier.
① If you ship through the Amazon Partnered Carrier Program (for sellers with overseas warehouses) or Amazon's cross-border logistics service, then you don't need to do anything; the system will automatically update and operate.
② If you ship through another carrier, you need to create a shipping plan through Send to Amazon, click the “Track Shipment” link to go to the “Track Shipment” tab and fill in the relevant information such as the tracking number.

★ Please note
1. To guarantee the customer experience, if the system is uncertain whether the shipment will arrive at the fulfillment center on time, or whether the shipment will contain the expected number of products after arrival, it may not allow all of your out-of-stock products to be found and purchased by buyers before they arrive at the fulfillment center.
2. After the inventory pre-sale feature is enabled, Amazon inventory without active sales information that has not arrived at the fulfillment center will not affect inventory performance index scores.
3. Not all shipments with a tracking number can support inventory pre-sale; only tracking numbers from logistics carriers integrated with Amazon (that is, can display shipment tracking information) are applicable.

I want to know how the sales volume of the product changed after the inventory pre-sale function was activated? After activating the inventory pre-sale feature, you can view reports on the quantity of sellable or sold products on the “Manage Inventory” or “Manage Amazon Inventory Reports” page to check inventory discrepancies.
In the Manage Inventory tool:
[Available for sale] The quantity indicates the number of products that can be sorted, packaged, and delivered by a SKU in the Amazon logistics network.
“Sold” quantity indicates the number of products of a SKU in a shipment to the fulfillment center, including the number of products offered through the inventory pre-sale function.
“Active” means that if your out-of-stock inventory meets the requirements for inventory pre-sale, then your temporarily out of stock products will be displayed for sale on the Manage Amazon Inventory page.

① To check how many products were sold when the shipment went to the fulfillment center:
Go to “Manage Inventory” — click the down arrow next to the item's “Available for Sale” quantity — select the “Reserve Future Availability” quantity in the drop-down menu
For example, if you see that 70 items for a SKU are “Reserved for Future Availability”, this means that 70 items were sold while the shipment was on its way to the fulfillment center.

② To view the number of products available for sale through the inventory pre-sale feature:
Go to “Manage Inventory” — click the down arrow next to the item's “Available for Sale” quantity — select the “Available for purchase in future” quantity in the drop-down menu
For example, if you see 30 products for a SKU that are “available for purchase in the future”, that means there are 30 more products available for customers to buy.

More information on inventory pre-sale products can be found in the “Manage Amazon Logistics Inventory Report.”

❓ Q1: If the inventory pre-sale feature is enabled, do I need to adjust the inventory replenishment cycle?
The inventory pre-sale feature is for items that are occasionally out of stock, but it is not a replacement for your regular inventory replenishment plan. Keeping products in stock maintains the best customer experience and helps increase sales.
❓ Q2: What happens if I stop using the inventory pre-sale feature?
Shipments created after you confirm that the pre-inventory feature has been suspended for 72 hours, and customers will not be able to find and buy the relevant products until these items arrive at the fulfillment center. If you want to pause or re-enable the feature, or to check your current status, go to the Inventory Presale feature page. Note that suspending or reactivating the inventory pre-sale feature will take up to 48 hours for your status to be updated.
❓ Q3: Why haven't I received an email confirmation after clicking “Pause feature” or “Reactivate now”?
If you haven't received an email confirmation within 48 hours, check your spam email for related emails. If you still haven't received the email, it may be because you unsubscribed from Amazon emails, or because the email address you provided in your seller account is different from the email address you normally use. You can check the feature page at any time to check the status of your inventory presales.
❓ Q4: How does Amazon decide which inventory can be enabled for inventory pre-sale?
The system determines which out of stock products can use the inventory pre-sale feature based on a number of factors, including a history of shipments (including the estimated number of items), the carrier's history of punctuality rates, and the capacity of the fulfillment center. For example, if you always ship the same number of products as listed in your shipping plan, there is still a high chance that customers will buy your products when they are temporarily out of stock.
