Amazon Seller Central's Extended Producer Responsibility Compliance Information page has opened the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Waste Registration Number (WEEE-Reg. -Nr number) upload channel.

The Amazon Extended Producer Responsibility Service (ACES) is officially open to all sellers.

Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) is an environmental policy that requires the party that first sells products that meet the requirements of the extended producer responsibility in a country/region (that is, the “producer” in the “extended producer responsibility”) to be responsible for the entire life cycle of the product introduced to the site, that is, from the beginning of product design until the end of the product life cycle (including waste collection).

● It depends on electric current or electromagnetic fields to work properly;
● Used to generate, transmit and measure electric current and electromagnetic fields.

Products subject to the Directive are only products for terminal use, that is, finished products after completion. Such products can:

● Complete an independent function;
● End users decide to use or install;
● In principle, there is no need for too much technology to install, even if the installation is performed by a technician.

In contrast, assembly components are not subject to the Act.

As of January 1, 2023, Amazon will check your compliance with your obligations under the German Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) as required by law.

If you sell products covered by the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Waste Directive in Germany, Amazon will collect and verify your electrical and electronic equipment waste registration number (WEEE-Reg. -Nr).

Amazon will be obligated to suspend your listing of non-compliant products in the WEEE product category as of January 1, 2023.
Since it may take 7-8 weeks for the German EAR to be issued, if you have not started submitting all registration data to the EAR by the end of October 2022, you may not have enough time to obtain and submit a valid WEEE-Reg to Amazon before the deadline of January 1, 2023. -Nr. Amazon may begin enforcing your non-compliant products before the cutoff date of January 1, 2023 to ensure that all of your products are compliant by January 1, 2023.

The Amazon Extended Producer Responsibility Service (ACES) is a compliance solution that helps you meet extended producer liability requirements in Germany, including a one-time registration service and subsequent reporting services. Amazon works with extended producer responsibility service providers to help you more easily meet extended producer responsibility requirements and achieve compliance.

To ensure that you comply with German electrical and electronic equipment waste laws, Amazon requires you to upload your or the producer of your product's WEEE-Reg on the Extended Producer Responsibility Compliance portal in Amazon Seller Central. -Nr.

Once you've completed the steps above, Amazon will verify every WEEE-Reg you submit. -Nr. You can view the verification results on the compliance portal page within a few days of submission.

● Contact Sales Partner Support: Click this button to get help from Amazon's official support team.
● Regulated Product Categories: This requires WEEE-Reg. Type of device with -Nr number. It will be pre-filled if you open one of the links. If you open the page from the Compliance Portal, you need to select an equipment type from the drop-down menu.
● Registration: Click this button to get support for the Extended Responsibility of Registered Producers.
● Brand: In this column, you'll see that WEEE-Reg is required in the relevant device type. -Nr for all brands.
● Open text box in the “Registration Number” column: You can enter your WEEE-Reg for each brand device combination here. -Nr.
● “I received this electrical and electronic equipment waste registration number from the producer in my supply chain” check box: If you are a reseller, the WEEE-Reg from the producer of your product is provided. -Nr number, please select this check box.
● Arrows: Each page contains 5 pages requiring WEEE-Reg. -Nr number record. You can click the right arrow to go and see the next page listed on the next page that requires providing a WEEE-Reg. -Nr brands can also click the left arrow to return to the previous page.

WEEE-Reg. -Nr numbers cannot be deleted, but they can be edited. If you provided an incorrect registration number, you can click on the Weee-reg you originally submitted. Edit and resubmit using the “Edit” link below the -Nr number.

Amazon didn't upload more than one WEEE-Reg for. -Nr number developed a batch upload function. Amazon also doesn't currently offer the ability to filter by brand or verification status.

You submitted a WEEE-reg on Amazon Seller Central. After the -Nr number, Amazon will verify your submission with the appropriate government agency or producer responsibility organization (PRO). Once verified by Amazon, the status next to your ID will change from “submitted” to “active” or “invalid+reason for not being valid.”

If the status is “Valid” no further action is required from you, and you can disregard these notifications. However, if the status is “invalid,” please refer to the reason for invalidity provided by Amazon and take appropriate action to resubmit the correct registration number. If the reasons listed don't apply to your situation, you can also contact Amazon's official support team for help through Amazon Seller Central. Amazon will launch a feature to appeal against “prohibited display” penalties in October 2022.
