3/FAQs
Whether Amazon France requires an EPR number (that is, a number obtained by registering for Extended Producer Responsibility) has always been a hot topic among sellers. In fact, in addition to uploading a valid unique identification number (UIN) in the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance portal to complete compliance, sellers can also conveniently complete compliance through Amazon France’s EPR Pay on Behalf service, avoiding the hassle of registering and filing on their own.
Important reminder, billing will begin in mid-September!!!
Amazon France EPR Payment Service is a compliance solution provided by Amazon. Using this service, Amazon can file and pay environmental fees in France on your behalf and then recover this amount from your seller account, helping you fulfill your Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance obligations and seamlessly sell products on Amazon France. For EPR categories without a valid submitted UIN, Amazon will automatically enroll you in this service.
Amazon has selected a specific Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO) for each relevant category. PRO reporting and payment cycles vary by category, including quarterly, semiannually, and annually. The following table details the PROs selected for each category as well as the reporting period and payment frequency.
Please note that the billing cycle for the environmental fee matches the payment frequency of the selected PRO, except for certain categories. For example, there are different reporting cycles under the DIY products category. To make this process easier, Amazon charges you an annual environmental fee for DIY products and other similar categories.
*Special note: The Building Materials category will join the Pay on Behalf service by the end of 2023.
Yes, but only if you have uploaded the corresponding UIN in the EPR Compliance Portal in Seller Central yourself to complete compliance. Therefore, if you need to stop this service, make sure you submit a valid UIN in the Extended Producer Responsibility Compliance Information Portal and have it verified before the end of the quarter.
Copy the following link into your browser, log in to Seller Central, and go to the Extended Producer Responsibility Compliance Information Portal👇

For example, if you do not want sales transactions for the third quarter of 2023 to be included in Amazon France EPR Pay on Behalf service, you must submit your valid UIN and have it verified before the end of the quarter.
Using Amazon France EPR Pay on Behalf service will incur two types of fees: service fee and eco-fee. Next, we’ll explain how these two fees are calculated and use specific examples to show you how to estimate the total cost.
🔹 For eco-fees paid on your behalf for 2022, Amazon will start charging sellers in mid-September this year.
🔹Sellers will be charged in mid-December this year for environmental fees already paid on their behalf for Q1–Q3 2023.
🔹The specific charge date is subject to the official email.
Based on sales volume in a product category, Amazon estimates that the environmental fees for most sellers on Amazon.fr are approximately the amounts shown in the table below:
*Special statement: These amounts are only guideline estimates and are for reference only. Based on your actual sales volume and other factors, your actual environmental fees may differ from this.
For example: if you sell Electric and Electronic Equipment in the France Marketplace and the package contains a paper instruction manual, the fees for three categories will be paid on your behalf: “Electric and Electronic Equipment (EEE),” “printed paper,” and “packaging.”
For your applicable sales on Amazon.fr in 2023 and later, we provide EPR payment-on-your-behalf services and charge the corresponding service fees.
1 year of France EPR payment-on-your-behalf service fees = €24.99 x the number of EPR categories using the payment-on-your-behalf service + total environmental fees paid on your behalf x 3%.
*Note: The billing cycle for service fees varies by category.
Special offer
Amazon does not charge service fees for 2022 sales. If you sell EPR-eligible products for the first time in this category in 2023, you will not be charged a service fee for sales of products in that category in 2023.
Based on the environmental fees and service fees introduced above, let’s take a look at how to estimate the fees Amazon pays on your behalf!
