Recently, the EU energy efficiency labeling law has sparked lively discussions among sellers and friends. Sellers are required to comply with the law and upload the relevant energy labels and product information sheets on Amazon Seller Central; otherwise, non-compliant products will be removed from Amazon Germany 30 days after receiving the notice!

01 What is the EU Energy Efficiency Labelling Law?
The EU Energy Efficiency Labelling Regulation establishes a framework of rules applicable to EU member states, requiring the provision of information on energy efficiency, energy consumption, and other resource consumption on product labels. In the context of the European energy crisis, European consumers are increasingly concerned about the energy efficiency and energy consumption of products.
1.1 Which products does the EU energy efficiency labeling regulation apply to?
EU energy efficiency labeling regulations apply to energy labeled products. These products are sold to EU consumers or used within the EU, and use energy during use.
Examples of products with energy labels include air conditioners, lighting products, electronic displays, washing machines, dishwashers, tumble dryers, and refrigerators (including products used in commercial environments). The EU energy efficiency labeling regulations do not apply to secondhand products unless the secondhand product is imported from outside the EU.
1.2 What are the EU's main requirements for energy labeling?
All products with an energy label must have an energy label displayed on the product detail page, and products with an energy label must also be accompanied by a product information sheet. Note that label ratings are gradually being adjusted from A+, A++, A+++, etc. to the new A (most energy efficient) to G (least efficient).
The reclassified label applies to 5 product categories: washing machines and dryers, dishwashers, electronic displays, refrigerators, and lighting products. Energy labels for other applicable product categories may also be reclassified in the next few years.

In Germany and the EU as a whole, products subject to EU energy efficiency labeling regulations include, but are not limited to: washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, electronic displays, refrigerators, and lighting equipment.
In order to meet the compliance requirements of the EU Energy Efficiency Labeling Act, sellers selling energy labeled products on the EU Amazon website are required to upload the energy label and product information sheet to Amazon Seller Central as soon as possible.
All products that do not meet the requirements will be removed from Amazon Germany 30 days after notification and will not be allowed for sale.
02 What does the seller need to do?
Sellers are required to comply with EU energy labeling regulations and upload the relevant energy labels and product information sheets on Amazon Seller Central; otherwise, non-compliant products will be removed from Amazon Germany 30 days after receiving the notice! Sellers can upload energy efficiency information to Amazon Seller Central in the following 3 ways 👇
Method 1 Upload inventory in bulk (recommended)
You can log in to Amazon Seller Central and click “Catalog” > “Upload Images” to complete the batch upload.
Method 2 Upload an inventory file
You can log in to Amazon Seller Central and click “Catalog” > “Upload Products in Bulk” to complete the inventory file upload.
Method 3 Upload information and images one by one
You can upload information and images one by one by logging into Amazon Seller Central and clicking “Inventory” > “Manage All Inventory”.
03 How to comply with EU energy efficiency labeling regulations
Suppliers and resellers must comply with EU energy efficiency labeling regulations when selling energy labeled products in the EU. Competent authorities may take action against any non-compliance. Suppliers and resellers must take immediate action to remedy any non-compliance and must cooperate with the authorities.

Step 1
Ensure that energy-labeled products are accompanied, free of charge, with the following:
🔺 The energy label is attached to the product packaging. The label must be a graphic chart containing a closed rating, each letter representing a rank, and in a different color (from dark green to red).
🔺 Product information sheet. This form must be provided with the product or the relevant information has been entered into the European Union Commodity Database (EPREL).

Step 2
Provide the printed energy label and product information sheet to your reseller.
Step 3
Ensure that energy labels and product information sheets are accurate, and provide sufficient technical documentation so that relevant agencies can evaluate their accuracy. This technical document shall include test reports or similar technical evidence and must be provided as required.
Step 4
If you sell products subject to EU energy labeling regulations on the EU market, you will need to register and enter certain product information in the EU Product Database (EPREL). The database is maintained by the European Commission and contains a “public section” and a “compliance section”.
You are required to submit the following information to the public section of this database: the supplier's name or trademark, EU address, contact details, and other legal identification information model, energy label and energy efficiency class, and product information sheets in electronic format.
For the compliance section of the database: Sellers must provide codes and some technical documentation for all equivalent models already sold on the market. Please double check that the model number is correct.
🔺 For products with an energy label, the supplier must also perform the following actions for visual advertising and online sales: In a specific model of visual advertisement or technical promotional material, indicate the energy efficiency class of the product and the range of energy efficiency classes provided on the energy label. When selling online, please display the product's energy label and product information sheet.
Step 1
The energy label is clearly displayed, including when selling remotely online. If necessary, replace any existing labels on online display products with re-graded energy labels, and indicate any relevant expiration dates in the licensing laws applicable to this product type.
Step 2
For online remote sales, please provide the customer with the product information sheet.
Step 3
If you don't have an energy label (including a re-graded energy label) or product information sheet, ask the supplier to provide one. If possible, download it from the EU Commodity Database (EPREL).
Step 4
Indicate the product's energy efficiency rating and the range of energy efficiency ratings provided on the energy label in the specific model's visual advertisement or technical collateral. When selling online, please display the product's energy label and product information sheet, and upload the energy label and product information sheet to the product detail page.
