Highly profitable sellers have done this. Under the new 2026 regulations, each item can be saved up to $4.04. The threshold is actually so low

Do you have any of the following concerns?
❌ It's been 5 months since 2026, and for every 1,000 large items sent out, $2,070 more was added to the bill — this money is flowing away every day, yet you haven't figured out how to save
❌ My peers in the same category have paid 5 months less for delivery. Each item is $1.51-$4.04 lower than you, and the one-year gap can reach 6 digits
❌ Backstage reports actually tell you how much you can save — yet 90% of sellers never click to open
Starting 2026, oversized products that are not part of Amazon's Ship in Product Packaging program (SIPP) will be charged a packaging fee of $1.51-$4.04 per item.
The good news is that this money can be completely saved: join SIPP to get rid of it, Amazon has already settled the account, and it only takes 3 steps. Today's post explains the policies, procedures, and the 6 most frequently asked questions sellers ask at once.

*The above fees are for example for the US site and the European site. The exact amount varies depending on the size, weight, and site of the product.
** (1) The basic fee varies from country to country; 2) An additional fee of 0.01-0.42/kg (local currency) is charged for each kilogram exceeding the basic delivery weight.
📌 Key changes: For small and large items, joining SIPP in 2026 has changed from an “optional optimization” to a “required action” - not joining = actively spending more money.

II. Tips for newbies: What is SIPP?
SIPP = Ship in Product Packaging Program
Simply put: shipping directly to buyers with your own branded packaging not only increases brand exposure, but also reduces delivery costs.
Three core values:
💰 Save money: Standard items are free of delivery, and large products avoid packaging fees
🎁 Brand Exposure: Buyers receive your branded packaging, no longer an Amazon brown box
🌱 More environmentally friendly: reduce excessive packaging and improve customer experience
Who it's for: All FBA sellers
Open sites: US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain (7 in total)
Registration Fee: Free

Three or three steps to save this money
🔹 Step 1: Diagnosis—a report tells you how much you can save
No complicated calculations; Amazon has settled the bill for you.
Operation path:
Take advantage of the new “Report Preview” feature, Seller Central → Menu → Growth → Browse Plans → Sustainability → Ship in Your Own Package → Click “Download Report”

In the report, you'll find 3 key messages:

Field meaning
Eligibility Status Eligible (Eligible Not Registered)/Excluded (Not Eligible)/Certified (Passed)
Savings per item Amount of savings per item
Estimated total savings The system automatically calculates the number of deliveries over the past 90 days × discount per item
💡 The third message is the most impact—it tells you directly how much you can save in 90 days. Multiply by 4 is the annualized amount.

Open the report and do one thing first: screen out all ASINs that are in the recommended status — that's your next target list to sign up for.
🔹 Step 2: Grouping — Group similar ASINs together
SIPP's certification logic is “a test report certifies a set of similar ASINs”. Grouping saves testing time and costs.

The 5 dimensions of judgment for grouping:
● Similar dimensions (sub-ASIN difference of any size or total volume ≤ 25%)
● Similar weight (secondary ASIN is ≤ 25% lighter than primary ASIN; less than 8 oz is not subject to this limit)
● The material is exactly the same (plastic and wood cannot be grouped together)
● The packaging type and specifications are exactly the same (same type of corrugated paper)
● Consistent product packaging ratio and package quantity
Key points of operation:
● Go to the “Eligible Products” tab and click “Edit Product Categories and Register”
● Paste ASINs in the search box (up to 300; comma/space/semicolon separators are allowed)
● The system automatically deduplicates and shows the “total amount of potential savings” for that product category

⚠️ Each group must specify a primary ASIN — the one that is the largest in size and heaviest.
🔹 Step 3: Test Submit—Master ASIN determines the entire process
Scenario A: Primary ASIN has been certified
Congratulations, you only need to fill in the “First Delivery Date” to complete the entire registration package — no need to upload test reports or images.

Scenario B: Primary ASIN is not certified
Select one of the two according to the product attributes:
● Self-test: Weighs <50 pounds, non-breakable, does not contain liquids/sharp objects/<1 inch particles, operate according to drop test specifications, upload 6 specification photos
● ISTA-6 laboratory test: fragile goods/liquid/heavy goods/sharp items, upload the ISTA-6A laboratory report (one report can be reused in multiple stores)
The essential guide to self-testing:
1. Watch the drop test video tutorial:
● Rigid packaging drop test evaluation process
● Flexible packaging drop test evaluation process
2. Photo requirements for the test:
● Pre-test photo, take sides 1, 2, and 5
● Before the test, take pictures of sides 3, 4, and 6
● Pre-test photos, material list (product/internal parts display)
● Photos after testing, overall packaging
● Photos after testing, the product itself

3. Last step: Fill in the “First Delivery Date” — the date that all of your products shipped to the fulfillment center were packaged in SIPP compliant packaging. If the current inventory package matches the registration description, you can directly fill in the current date.
Once you have completed the steps above, you can add this product to the SIPP program on the “Self-Packaged Shipping Page” in Seller Central.

IV. 5 most frequently asked questions from sellers
Q1: I think there are quite a few ASINs in the back office that show “Registered”. Did Amazon automatically certify them for me?If I haven't registered, do I have to submit it myself?
Yes. Through fulfillment center testing and machine learning, Amazon proactively monitors and automatically registers eligible ASINs that meet SIPP requirements — you don't have to do anything.
For ASINs that remain in the approval status, you need to manually complete the 3-step process yourself. There will be no second chance to “wait for Amazon to automatically authenticate”, so it is recommended that you register as soon as possible.
Q2: After registration, can the inventory of new and used packaging coexist? How are warehouses distinguished?
It is possible to coexist. Amazon uses the “First Delivery Date” you fill in when you submit your registration as the dividing line:
Inventory received after this date: Get SIPP discount/packaging fee reduction
Old inventory that was in stock before this date: disposed of as it was and will not be eligible for the new offer
The warehouse system automatically distinguishes by storage date, and packaging damage caused by old inventory does not affect the SIPP registration status of new inventory.
Q3: If I return the product and the package is damaged, will it be judged as unsellable?
According to the Amazon Logistics customer return policy, SIPP products and non-SIPP products use the same standard evaluation process — that is, joining SIPP will not reduce your return secondary sales ratio.
American express labels are easy to tear off. Consumers can easily remove them after receiving the goods, and the appearance of the original packaging is basically unaffected. If the packaging is indeed damaged during the return process to the point where it cannot be sold for a second time, it will be processed according to the normal unsellable process (consistent with products not included in SIPP).
💡 If you are concerned about the content of privacy products being seen, it is recommended to optimize the packaging to an opaque material, and the product image does not appear on the outside.
Q4: Which products can't be added? What if my product doesn't look very compliant?
Definitely not allowed to join:
● Dangerous goods (including lithium batteries, flammable gases, magnetic materials, household cleaners, etc.)
● All electrified products
● Packaging items smaller than 6 x 4 x 0.375 inches
● Oversized items (no registration required, shipped as SIPP by default, but no discounts apply)
It's easy to be misjudged as “unable to join”:
● Toughened Glass/ Explosion-proof Glass/ Bulletproof Glass: Not fragile, can be self-tested, no ISTA laboratory required
● Plastic box packaging: can be added, just meet the requirements of rigid packaging (see if the backstage shows recommendations)
● Package size is not up to standard: You can consider modifying the packaging to the minimum size requirements (for example, changing 30 x 5 x 5 cm to 30 x 7.5 x 7.5 cm)
If you believe a product has been wrongly determined to be non-compliant, you can file an appeal by contacting Sales Partner Support in Seller Central.
Q6: How long will it take to complete the review after registration is submitted? Can I submit it again if it was rejected?
Currently, SIPP reviews are done manually. Results usually come out in about 2 weeks, which may take longer during busy times. If it hasn't been updated for more than a month, contact your account manager to help submit the work order.
You can re-submit after being rejected — simply re-check that the package meets the drop test requirements + optimize the packaging and then re-launch the application from the “Registered Products” or “Eligible Products” page. Common reasons for rejection include: missing test images (such as bill of materials/family photos), untaped sealing of the paper box, and self-testing of fragile items (must be sent to the ISTA laboratory).
