Quick search for low-profit sellers! Are you using the official Amazon tool that 1.3 million sellers use?
July 7, 2023
When it comes to Amazon, the biggest fear is not that there are no orders, but that the items are returned one by one.
If the product is returned once, reverse logistics+return processing+secondary labeling, the profit is gone. ASINs are labeled with high return rates, and ads and rankings will drop one more time.
Amazon recently released the “2026 Amazon Returns Management Strategy”, 📘 2 new policies (return processing fee, high return rate label) | 🧭 3-step methodology | 🛠️ 5 practical tools | Real seller stories

The strategy breaks down the matter of reducing the return rate into three steps:
• Step 1 | Start with the key ASIN and understand the reason for the return
• Step 2 | From the detail page to after-sales tools, block returns that can be blocked
• Step 3 | The return actually happened, use tools to minimize losses
Step 1 | Understand the reason for the return: Start with key ASINs and target the core issues
There are hundreds of ASINs in the store, and it's unrealistic to keep an eye on them one by one. The expert approach is to focus on big and small — find high-value, high-return core funds first, and focus the firepower where it is most worth optimizing.

Lock high-risk ASINs in 3 seconds

Open the Amazon AI returns dashboard (Returns and Value Recovery: Insights and Opportunities) and focus on the “return label” and “order volume” columns — ASINs with high order volume and an alert label are the core funds worth investing in first. The label has a total of three colors:
• 🔵 No tags = good performance, continue to be maintained
• 🟡 At risk = yellow warning, hurry up and optimize
• 🔴 High return rate = red alert, act immediately
Amazon AI return dashboard path: Seller Central home page → “Orders” on the left menu → “Returns and Value Recovery: Insights and Opportunities”.
Applicable sellers: US Station, European Station (English, France, Germany, Italy, West), Japan Station, Canada Station

Precisely dismantle return reasons for high-risk ASINs
Only by finding the right problem can we treat the symptoms. In the past, the biggest headache in analyzing returns was that the consumer's reason for the return was not specific enough. The AI return signboard is peeling away this layer, giving precise reasons at a granular level.

Channel 1 | Direct view on the signboard: Enter the return analysis section and enter the target ASIN to see the refined output after AI integrates historical return reasons and buyer reviews — it is no longer a general “size not suitable”, but an accurate “small waist area” and “short skirt length”.
Channel 2 | Amazon Logistics Return Report: Many sellers are aware of this report, but you may not know. This report is helping you gather more accurate return reasons!Comments with small vertical lines in the field are the reason AI collects them from consumers through interactive chat. The format is “main reason | specific details | additional explanation”.
Size Too Small | The waist area is too tight | The chest and sleeves fit as expected and are comfortable, but the waist is tight and doesn't allow normal range of movement.

💡 Tip: Throw this report to an AI tool to summarize and refine it in batches, and the reason for high-frequency returns can be revealed in a few minutes.

Step 2 | Take action to reduce returns
Now that the problem is clear, the next step is action — one starts before sales, and the other starts after sales. The two can be combined.

Targeted optimization of product detail pages
Once the problem is found, there is no need to immediately overhaul the product — re-proofing, taking pictures, and stocking, which is expensive and takes a long time. Professionals will start with the details page, communicate accurate information to consumers in advance, and reduce returns caused by “mismatch of expectations” at the source. Take women's clothing as an example. If the reason for high-frequency returns is a “small waist area”, it can be optimized in three directions —
• FAQ and product highlights. Add a purchase guide: “When purchasing, please give priority to the waist circumference data. It is not recommended to buy if the waist is over XXcm; it is easy to wear too tight and affects comfort” to dissuade consumers who may not fit well in advance.
• A+ pages. Mark “The waist is designed to be slim, suitable for people with a slim waist” to anchor expectations in advance.
• Size chart. The waist circumference value is marked separately, and a diagram of the measurement method is provided to allow buyers to accurately select the size.

The benefits of detail page optimization are that the investment is minimal and the results are fast, and the results can be seen without waiting for the next batch of goods to arrive in the warehouse.

Use Amazon Product Support to prevent installation returns before returning
Many FBA sellers struggle with no channels to directly provide after-sales services to consumers. Amazon Product Support (Product Support) is the official tool to solve this problem. After free registration, it can provide consumers with full support from installation, use, troubleshooting to maintenance and missing accessories.

Three key numbers:
• In 2025, more than 1.3 million sellers worldwide have registered to support their products [1]
• In 2025, more than 16 million consumers resolved issues through product support and avoided returns [2]
• Tested by leading sellers, the return rate was reduced by 40% after use [3]
Activation path: Amazon has merged these five features into the same portal. You only need to log in to Seller Central and register all at once. The whole process is free, and both new and old sellers can activate it.

Eligible sellers:

· The contact manufacturer function is additionally open to India, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Australia, Mexico, and Brazil stations.
Step 3 | Did the return happen or did it happen, how can I reduce the loss?
If the first two steps are in place, the return rate will drop, but it will be impossible to return to zero. How can the losses be minimized with the remaining actual returns? The default idea of many sellers is: return → relist → sell again → no loss. However, for every returned item, even if 100% sellable, the second sale will be re-invested in commissions, advertising fees, and delivery costs. This does not include return costs such as return processing, secondary packaging, and labeling and warehousing.

So here's the question — is there any way to reduce losses? The answer is: two official tools, one that eliminates the return process itself, and the other allows you to continue to monetize even if the item is unsellable.
Partial refunds and only refunds: let consumers leave their products and eliminate the return process
Amazon Partial Refund (Partial Refund) and Returnless Resolution (Returnless Resolution) - The seller refunds part of the money to the consumer, leaving the product behind, and skipping the entire process of return logistics, secondary packaging, and secondary storage.

The difference between the two:
• Partial refund: Suitable for medium to high customer unit price products. The seller sets the refund ratio (such as a 20% refund), the consumer receives part of the compensation, and the product is left behind. As long as the partial refund amount is less than the comprehensive cost of the second sale, a partial refund is economical.
• Refund only: Suitable for low unit price products, full refund, consumers do not need to send it back.

The biggest concern: will it be misused by customers?Three layers of protection have been added to the Amazon system --
Partial Refund, Refund Only Path: Seller Central “Settings (Settings)” → “Fulfilment by Amazon (Fulfillment by Amazon)” → find “FBA Return Assessment and Attribution Settings” → click Edit (Edit) next to “Partial Refund” → select which ASINs to enable. It takes effect immediately after saving.

Eligible sellers:
Partial Refunds — US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, FBA sellers
Refund only — US site, FBA seller, items under $75

Amazon Logistics Rating and Resale Program: Recovering up to 80% of product value
If the item is actually unsellable after being returned — the packaging is damaged and the appearance is worn — it is a waste of money to dispose of it. You can consider joining the Amazon Logistics Rating and Resale Program to re-list the product as a used item. The seller's measured value recovery rate can reach 80%. Ratings, pricing, and re-listing are all done automatically by Amazon.

Amazon Rating and Resale Start Path: Seller Central “Settings” → “Amazon Logistics” → “Automatic Removal Settings for Unsellable Products” → “Edit” → “Registered Value Recovery Options” → “Amazon Logistics Rating Resale Program” → Set a percentage discount according to product condition → Save. The discount values can be updated at any time.

Applicable sellers: US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, FBA sellers
3-Step Overlay | Quick Action Checklist
The three-step approach is not about choosing one of the three to target the problem. The second step blocks returns that can be blocked, and the third step only deals with the remaining uncontrollable returns.
- Open the Amazon AI return board, go through the 10 ASINs with the highest order volume, and mark the core items with yellow and red warnings
- Download the Amazon Logistics return report for the last 60 days and use AI to sort out the top 3 return reasons for each high-risk ASIN
- Check the details page: FAQ, A+ page, size chart/instructions to see if the information corresponding to the reason for high-frequency returns has been clearly explained in advance
- Log in to the product support page, first activate “Product Operation Documents” and “After-Sales Videos” (lowest threshold), then gradually launch “Spare Parts Reissue” and “Real-time Brand Owner Support”
- In the “FBA Return Assessment and Vesting Settings”, enable partial refunds/only refunds for the appropriate ASIN
- In the “Automatic Removal Settings for Unsellable Products”, join the Amazon Logistics Rating and Resale Program, and finally recover the value of the product

Returns aren't originally a problem that can be suppressed by a single action. See the cause clearly, stop what you can stop, and stop the loss if you take the three steps — every dollar you save on your book is a profit.
