Recently, many sellers in the US have received emails requesting Amazon's compliance policy. There are updates to the compliance requirements for the “button batteries and coin batteries and products containing such batteries” category, so please pay attention promptly!

If you do not submit compliance documents and successfully pass the review before the product removal date, your product is at risk of removal.
We recommend that you take action as soon as possible to upload relevant compliance information to Amazon Seller Central in a timely manner according to the categories you sell. If you sell button batteries and coin batteries and products containing such batteries in the US, please keep an eye on your email to receive reminder emails. If you miss the date for submitting compliance documents, the product is at risk of being removed from the shelves.

This policy applies to flat single individual button cells and coin cells, usually 5-25 mm in diameter and between 1-6 mm in height, and consumer products containing coin cells or coin cells.

Button batteries and coin batteries can be sold separately or used in various consumer products and household items. They are usually powered by alkaline substances, silver oxide, or zinc air, and have a low rated voltage (usually 1-5 volts). Coin batteries are powered by lithium, have a rated voltage of 3 volts, and are generally larger in diameter than button batteries.

Amazon requires all coin cells and coin cells to be tested and meet all of the following regulations, standards, and requirements:
● 16 CFR Part 1700.15 (anti-virus packaging standards); and
● 16 CFR Part 1700.20 (Special Packaging Inspection Procedure); and
● ANSI C18.3M (Portable Lithium Primary Battery Safety Standard).

Amazon requires all consumer products containing coin cells or coin cells that fall within the scope of 16 CFR Part 1263 to be tested and meet all of the following regulations, standards, and requirements:
● 16 CFR Part 1263 (safety standards for coin cell or coin cells and consumer products containing such batteries); and
● ANSI/UL 4200 A (product safety standard containing coin cells or coin cells).

Tip: Consumer products containing button batteries include, but are not limited to, calculators, cameras, flameless candles, flashlights, shoes, holiday decorations, keychain flashlights, music cards, remote controls, and watches.

❶ The product model must be displayed on the product detail pages of button batteries and coin batteries and consumer products containing coin cells or coin batteries;

❷ Button batteries and coin batteries and consumer products containing coin cells or coin batteries must provide product safety instructions and user manuals;

❸ General Certificate of Conformity: This document must specify compliance with UL 4200A and prove that it meets the requirements of UL 4200A based on test results;

❹ Tested by an ISO 17025-accredited laboratory to confirm compliance with the requirements of UL 4200A, which has been adopted by 16 CFR Part 1263 (coin cells or coin cells and consumer products containing such batteries):
● The inspection report must include an image of the product to prove that the product being tested is the same as the product listed on the product detail page.

❺ Product images that prove that they meet the following requirements:
● Anti-virus packaging requirements (16 CFR section 1700.15);
● Warning label declaration requirements (Public Law No. 117-171);
● Safety standards for coin cells or coin cells and consumer products containing such batteries (16 CFR Part 1263).

Note: Any documents, test reports, or certificates you provide to Amazon must be authentic and in their original format (that is, unmodified).

If you sell the above products on Amazon US, we recommend that you take action as soon as possible and promptly upload relevant compliance information to Amazon Seller Central according to the categories you sell.

Additionally, if you believe your product has been misclassified as a prohibited product, you can go to Amazon Seller Central to file an appeal.

Submit compliance documents or appeals for individual products

Log in to Amazon Seller Central and click “Performance > Account Status”;

In the bottom right corner of the “Account Status” page, click “Manage Your Compliance > Product Compliance Requests”, find the product you want to take action on, and click the corresponding “Add or Appeal Compliance” button;

🔸 To provide compliance documents and information, please click “Provide Documents”;
🔸 To upload a file, please drag and drop the file, or open the browsing window to select the file;
🔸 If you wish to make an appeal, please click “Request for Appeal” and select the corresponding “Reason for Appeal” from the drop-down menu, and enter any other comments required to support or clarify your appeal;

Step4
Click “Submit” to send the information you submitted for Amazon to review.

Note: When uploading a file, you must provide all required documents for this ASIN. The system does not allow you to submit only part of the file, otherwise your submission will be rejected by the system.

Log in to Amazon Seller Central and click “Performance > Account Status”;

In the bottom right corner of the “Account Status” page, click “Manage Your Compliance > Product Compliance Requests”, find the product you want to take action on, and click the corresponding “Add or Appeal Compliance” button;

Click “Upload Compliance File > Generate Template” to download the template containing all of your valid requests;
