Recently, we have received many inquiries from sellers, hoping to understand the status of FBA shipments and how to handle abnormalities. Today, Xiaobian will talk in detail about common questions from novice sellers to help sellers and friends easily handle FBA!
Strategy 1: Check FBA shipment status
Check the status of the shipment on the “Shipments” - “Manage Shipments” page in Seller Central. Here's an explanation of some common shipment statuses.
1 Shipment Created
The shipment has been created, and this status consists of two steps: “Ready to Ship” and “Shipped”.
🌟 If using an Amazon Partnered Carrier, the shipment status will be updated to “Shipped” after the carrier picks up the item;
🌟 If using a non-partnered carrier, the shipment status will automatically be updated to “Shipped” after entering valid tracking information.
🌟 If using an Amazon Partnered Carrier, the shipment status will be updated to “Shipped” after the carrier picks up the item;
🌟 If using a non-partnered carrier, the shipment status will automatically be updated to “Shipped” after entering valid tracking information.

2 In Transit (In Transit)/Delivered (Delivered)
🌟 In transit: When Amazon obtains information from the carrier that the seller's shipment is in transit, the shipment will enter the “In Transit” status. If you are not using a partnered carrier, the shipment status will show as in transit when the seller's carrier coordinates a delivery appointment with the fulfillment center.
🌟 Delivered: Amazon has received information from the carrier informing the seller that the shipment is pending delivery or has been delivered to the fulfillment center, but the fulfillment center has not yet registered it. Sometimes, a shipment that has been delivered to the fulfillment center does not appear as “delivered”, which may be because the information between the carrier and the fulfillment center is not synchronized.
* Important: Once a shipment has been delivered to the fulfillment center by the carrier, it may take up to 10 days for the shipment to reach “checked in” status, and may take longer during peak times.

3 Checked In (Checked In) /Received (Received)
🌟 Registered: The trailer carrying the shipment has moved from the yard to the dock and is ready to be unloaded, and the registered inventory has not yet completed the receipt process.
* Important: For small package shipments, it may take up to two days to change from “Registered” to “Receiving” status. For LTL and FCL deliveries, it takes up to 9 days. It may take longer during peak times.
🌟 Receiving: When Amazon scans the seller's first shipment ID label, the shipment will be in the receiving state. The received item is ready for sale, but since the item may be shipped to another fulfillment center closer to the customer, the item received may indicate a future delivery time.

4 Completed (Closed)
Amazon has confirmed receipt of all items in the shipment based on the quantity shipped, or the seller's shipment has been open for more than 90 days since it was created (whichever is earlier).
Strategy 2: Something abnormal?Open Shipment Discrepancy Investigation
If the shipment status shows “Completed” but there is a difference in quantity, the seller can request an investigation. Search Seller Central for “Check Discrepancies” or copy the link below and use the Shipment Discrepancy Finder to see if your shipment is eligible for investigation.

The procedure for applying for an investigation is as follows:
1 Review the inconsistency and request an investigation
To check the “Status” column for each product, you must first select an option for each product in the “Action Required” state before you can preview and submit an investigation request, or simply check “Show differences only” in the upper left corner.
Sellers are advised to first confirm with the warehouse shipper, carrier, etc. whether the item has been missed or sent multiple times, and after confirmation, select the appropriate option (such as “Investigate Missing Items”) in the “Action Required” status drop-down menu.

2 Upload a file
Review the documentation requirements at the bottom of the page and upload any documents that may be helpful to help Amazon process the investigation request as quickly as possible. Amazon requires that the following documents be attached to the investigation request:
🌟 Proof of inventory ownership: Acceptable proof of ownership of inventory includes invoices from suppliers, receipts from other sellers; if the seller is the manufacturer of the product, a signed packing slip can also be provided as proof.
🌟 Proof of delivery: For LTL or FCL deliveries, please provide a bill of lading showing the number of boxes and total weight of the shipment at the time of pickup by the carrier. The document must be stamped by Amazon confirming that the shipment was received and signed for at the fulfillment center. The seller can obtain a copy of this file from the carrier.
After submitting an investigation request, Amazon will confirm the quantity received and make every effort to check for discrepancies between missed and frequently shipped items. Making this type of shipment discrepancy inquiry will not affect the seller's existing inventory.

Please note
To help Amazon process research requests as quickly as possible, Amazon makes the following four suggestions:
① Before applying for an investigation, check whether the shipment meets the investigation conditions using the above tools. Shipments that are not eligible for investigation will most likely not be investigated, even if requested.
② For shipments that are eligible for investigation, please follow the steps above to request an investigation on the “Shipment Summary - Item Information Page”. If you contact Seller Support directly, it is likely that Seller Support will also direct you back to the “Item Information Page” to submit an application, which will help Amazon gather the required information and conduct investigations more efficiently.
③ Before applying for an investigation, prepare all the documents required for the investigation and submit them in one go to reduce the time spent on repeated communication due to the need for additional information.
④ Claims must be submitted within nine months (US site) of the exact date the shipment arrives at Amazon's fulfillment center, and claims not submitted within this period are not eligible for compensation.

In fact, many storage problems can be avoided at the beginning. Xiaobian follows the three steps of packaging and delivery — handling individual products, packing products, and filling in shipping information, and selecting ten “pits” where novice sellers are prone to problems. We recommend collecting and self-checking so that every batch can arrive smoothly.
Do a good job of pre-processing individual products
The label is clearly labeled, but the inbound display shows that the “Amazon barcode” is missing?
Product labels are usually missing for the following reasons:
① Non-mixed-sale products. The outer packaging of each product sold separately must use an FNSKU label starting with “X00”. This is a unique identifier for FBA warehousing and future shipments to buyers, and cannot be replaced with an ASIN or UPC label.
① Non-mixed-sale products. The outer packaging of each product sold separately must use an FNSKU label starting with “X00”. This is a unique identifier for FBA warehousing and future shipments to buyers, and cannot be replaced with an ASIN or UPC label.

② The label may fall off during transportation, so it is recommended to stick it securely.
③ The label must be attached to the surface of the outer package, not to the inside, otherwise it cannot be scanned.
③ The label must be attached to the surface of the outer package, not to the inside, otherwise it cannot be scanned.
Why is my barcode not scannable?
Barcode scan failures are usually related to label attachment and print quality:
① The label must be attached completely and flat to the surface, and must not wrap around the edge.
② When printing, make sure the ink concentration is moderate so it won't smudge/be too light or fade; use black ink to print the label on a high-contrast, non-reflective white background to ensure clear margins around the edge of the barcode.
If there are other barcodes on the outer packaging of the product, it is recommended to remove them rather than cover them to avoid scanning the wrong barcode.

I use sealed bags to sell clothing products. What should I do with the bags?
Clothing products are packaged in sealed bags, as shown on the right, and must meet the following standards:
① Plastic bags must be made of transparent polyethylene with a thickness of at least 1.5 mils.
② Completely seal the package and not exceed 3 inches of the item's size.
③ To ensure safety, plastic bags with an opening greater than 5 inches must have a suffocation warning printed or affixed.

Packing and outer box handling
What are the requirements for the size and weight of the outer box?
The size and weight restrictions of an outer box are mainly determined by the contents:
① Boxes containing multiple standard-sized products must not exceed 25 inches on any side, unless the oversized item itself is at least 25 inches in size.
② Generally, boxes should not weigh more than 50 pounds, and boxes containing jewelry or watches should not exceed 40 pounds.
③ If the package contains a single item that weighs more than 50 or 100 pounds, a “multi-person sharing” or “mechanical handling” warning label must be marked on the outside of the box.

Why can't I scan the shipment ID label on the outer box?
The outer box shipping label, as shown on the right, is printed when FBA creates the shipment.
Shipment ID label scan failures are mainly related to the condition and location of the label:
① The label must be undamaged and must not be covered by tape or plastic film.
② Avoid sticking the label on the seal of the package or the edge of the box, etc., which can easily cause the label to break or bend.

Why is there an inaccurate quantity of items in the box?
The inaccuracy of the number of items in the box may be due to several factors:
① Before shipping, there may be fewer packages due to negligent inventory.
② The third party/warehouse/forwarder was short of inventory at the time of packaging and did not update the shipment plan in a timely manner.
③ The product may also be lost during transportation due to damage to the box.
④ Quantity errors occurred during customs and freight forwarder inspections.
Seller friends are advised to carefully inventory before shipping and choose reliable first-haul logistics carriers, such as Amazon Global Logistics (AGL) and Amazon SEND.

Fill in the correct shipping information
What causes a shipment to be delivered to the wrong location?
Shipments are generally delivered to the wrong location for the following reasons:
① Shipment destination not set in the account.
② The delivery address cannot be correctly identified due to improper labeling.
③ The carrier delivered the shipment to the wrong address or to a different fulfillment center due to the same postal code.

② The delivery address cannot be correctly identified due to improper labeling.
③ The carrier delivered the shipment to the wrong address or to a different fulfillment center due to the same postal code.
I found a problem after delivery. How can I modify the delivery period or simply cancel the shipment?
❍ Change delivery period: On the “Tracking Details” page on the Send to Amazon interface, you can click the “Edit Time Period” button to modify the delivery period. Please note that once the time period starts or the shipment is delivered early, the delivery time period cannot be changed.

❍ Cancel shipment: Click “Cancel Shipment” at the bottom of the Send to Amazon workflow page to cancel the Send to Amazon shipment. Taking this action will cancel all shipments created and change them to a “Canceled” status in the “Shipment Processing Progress”.
Why am I getting an error message saying I need a unique tracking number?
This error message occurs when a seller enters the same tracking number for different boxes in a small package shipment. For these shipments, Amazon requires a unique tracking number for each box.
Some carriers will provide a primary tracking number, but they should also provide a unique number for each box. If you haven't received all tracking numbers from the carrier, visit the carrier's website or contact the carrier for a full list of box tracking numbers.
Some carriers will provide a primary tracking number, but they should also provide a unique number for each box. If you haven't received all tracking numbers from the carrier, visit the carrier's website or contact the carrier for a full list of box tracking numbers.

If the tracking number provided by the seller is not valid, or does not match the selected carrier, you will get the error message “Tracking ID is not valid”. To fix this error, make sure that no spaces are entered before or after the tracking number, and that the carrier selected matches the tracking number.
In what situations will an inventory defect fee be charged?
Inbound defect fees may be incurred for the following problems:
❍ Shipment delivered to the wrong location: The shipment was sent to a different fulfillment center than the one listed in the shipping plan.
❍ Deleted and discarded shipments: Domestic shipments are not delivered within 45 days of the creation of the shipment, and international shipments are not delivered within 75 days of the creation of the shipment. In multiple destination shipping plans, other shipments are not delivered within 30 days of the first shipment being delivered. Send an incomplete shipment, that is, the number of items is very different from the seller's shipping plan.
